Posted on 01/24/2020
Go for the GoldRidge Mills kicked off their Go for the Gold Reading Challenge on Friday, January 17, 2020.

You may remember last years challenge where the students were challenged to read 400,000 minutes and in turn, Mr. Flagg promised to kiss Ellie the Pig. Well, they succeeded and he did indeed kiss the pig. This year the stakes are even higher at 500,000 minutes!

The theme is the Olympics and in addition to reading we are focusing on physical wellness and character traits of Olympians (perseverance, service, integrity, scholarship, and leadership)

To kick off their challenge, a local Olympian, Tammy Delano joined the assembly.  Tammy was a para-Olympic athlete who participated in the 2016 Olympics for air rifle shooting. She graduated from RFA at went to Ridge Mills!

This event was planned by the literacy committee which includes staff and four 6th grade students, Emma Lopez, Brody Smith, Alexandria Lubecki, and Olivia DeAngelo.

Stay tuned for updates on the student's progress and this awesome challenge!
